The eFlows4HPC project hit the ground running with its Kick-off-Meeting, which took place online on 15-16 March 2021. Although our first gathering had to be virtual due to the pandemic, representatives from all 16 partners were present and excited to officially initiate the discussion on the project’s first steps.
During the first day, after a welcome from our coordinator, Rosa M. Badia from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), the agenda focused on Work Package (WP) 1 and workflow interfaces for the integration of HPC, data analytics and machine learning, followed by presentations by the Pillar-related WPs: WP4 Pillar I on ROM: Digital twin in Manufacturing, WP5 Pillar II on dynamic and adaptive workflows for climate modelling, and WP6 Pillar III on urgent computing for natural hazards.
On the second day, the technical presentations continued with insights from WP2 on optimization of runtime and libraries, workflow deployment, resource management, and data management and WP3 on co-design aspects between applications, software stack and actual hardware.
Later on, the non-technical WPs (WP7: Outreach to communities and exploitation, WP8: Dissemination and communication, and WP9: Project management) provided the consortium with an overview of their tasks and activities along with future actions.
The meeting was completed with a discussion on the Year 1 tasks for all partners and the draft timeline of the project activities in both technical and administrative aspects.
Thanks to all the team members for their attending our first consortium-wide meeting. Stay tuned for the eFlows4HPC events and news and follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn so that you don’t miss a single update!
